The Raiders are winners of three of four and are now tied with the Chiefs and Chargers for first place in the AFC West. Things should finally be working themselves out right? The Raiders who were picked to win the West before the season started now have a chance to do just that and make everyone forget about their midseason nosedive.
The only problem with the Raiders is their schedule. They play the Chiefs this Sunday then go on to play the Cowboys, Eagles, and Chargers over the final three weeks. Not a single team on that list has a losing record, but if the Raiders are able to win out, they are guaranteed the division crown and a playoff spot.
ESPN’s Football Power Index only gives the Raiders an 8 percent chance to win the West despite the fact that the Raiders are in complete control of their entire playoff destiny.
The good news is that Raiders are playing better as of late and are full of confidence. The defense has been forcing more turnovers and getting after the quarterback on a more consistent basis.
The run game also seems to be rolling which has helped take pressure off of Derek Carr and the passing game. The Raiders just need to stick to the old cliche of taking things one game at a time and not get caught looking ahead. This week they need to focus on the Chiefs, then the Cowboys and so on and so forth.
