Former Giants head coach Ben McAdoo told ESPN Senior Writer Chris Mortensen this morning that he has been fired.
McAdoo took over for Tom Coughlin after the 2015 season.
Last year (his first year as Giants head coach) was encouraging. They had an 11-5 record and ended a five-year playoff drought.
Obviously this year has not gone as planned. With a 2-10 record and the benching of Eli Manning, the Giants were in disarray. Veteran players being suspended and losing star receivers to injury didn’t help either.
After Manning was benched, owner John Mara wouldn’t even guarantee McAdoo’s safety through the end of the season.
“There’s no guarantees in life,” Mara said at the time. “(We) made (our) statement on that a couple of weeks ago, but there’s no guarantees in life.”
