Giants fire Ben McAdoo and GM Jerry Reese

Just a week after Ben McAdoo and Jerry Reese decided to bench Eli Manning and a day after the Giants lost to the Raiders in Oakland, McAdoo and Reese got fired. Anyone who had watched the NFL and even casually followed the Giants knew that this was inevitable. There was too much talent on this team to not make the playoffs.

The offense was loaded at nearly every position except for offensive line. The running backs weren’t spectacular but what coach wouldn’t want a receiving corp of Odell Beckham Jr., Brandon Marshall, Sterling Shepard, and Evan Ingram (TE).

McAdoo and the coaching staff failed to make the adjustments needed for Eli Manning and offense to be successful. Manning isn’t what he was a few years ago but he is still much better than what this season shows. He certainly didn’t deserve to get benched.

The defense also didn’t get along with their former head coach which led to suspensions of Dominique Rogers-Cromartie and Janoris Jenkins. Eli Apple the team’s first-round draft choice of 2016.

In McAdoo’s time as a head coach, he was unable to lead the offense to more than 30 points and amassed a 13-15 record. Updates will be provided as they become available.
