Giants fans woke up this morning to see the news that Ben McAdoo and Jerry Reese were relieved of their team responsibilities. McAdoo has failed in his second season as coach to take a talented offensive team to the playoffs. Granted injuries have played a large role in the lack of production but the defense was expected to be one of the best in the league fell off drastically.
McAdoo may best be remembered for ending Eli Manning’s string of consecutive starts by starting Geno Smith at quarterback last week. The team lost to the Raiders and the second year head coach was sent packing.
ESPN recently reported that Manning is expected to start for the Giants in their next game against the Cowboys. Essentially Manning was benched for a week only to break the streak and a failed experiment.
Steve Spagnuolo will take over for the remaining games. Giants owner John Mara would not confirm whether Manning will start this week or not, but sources have indicated that Manning will be back under center this week against the Cowboys.
Updates will be provided as they become available.
