The Denver Broncos have lost their RT for the rest of the year. Menelik Watson’s foot injury turned out to be season-ending and he was placed on IR. The team signed Cyrus Kouandjio to a contract to take his place on the offensive line.
Watson has been struggling with a calf injury off and on for the majority of the season. On Sunday he suffered a severe foot injury. Kouandjio was drafted in 2014 in the second round by the Bills. He made seven starts and appeared in 25 games over that time. He had undergone surgery to repair his hip and was released in May. He had a brief stint with the Lions who decided to cut him after training camp had ended.
The Broncos hope that he can provide a consistent presence on the right side of their line. Watson who was signed in free agency from Oakland has been one of the worst RTs in the league. Pro Football Focus rated him No. 69 out of 78. He was terrible in pass protection and never lived up to the potential or hype.
