This Saturday the 49ers take on the Seattle Seahawks in a home game, and everyone is holding their breath to see if recent acquisition Jimmy Garoppolo will step into the starting lineup. Former 49ers player Jeff Garcia seems to think that’s the wrong move.
Garcia played with the 49ers between 1999 and 2003, and now works as an analyst for NBC Sports Bay Area. During his 49ers Insider podcast this week, Garcia made it clear that he thinks C.J. Beathard should remain in starting position for the 49ers:
“Because I know how important the mental side of the quarterback position is, I want to make sure Jimmy is fully comfortable and ready to grasp that. Right now, after this past game, I want to see C.J. respond with another game and start to show some consistency. This will be a great challenge against a West division rival in the Seattle Seahawks.”
Garcia may have a point. Beathard just had his best game as a pro with 288 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception in the 49ers Week 10 game against the Giants.
