One of the biggest challenges Alabama will face, as they travel to play the 16th, ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs this Saturday will be containing quarterback Nick Fitzgerald.

Last year, the Tide had their way with the the now-redshirt junior, limiting to just 145 yards passing and forcing one interception. The Tide ran roughshod over the Bulldogs 51-3.

This year, Mississippi State’s offense relies even more on Fitzgerald. The quarterback currently ranks third in the SEC in total offense (251.1 yards per game). Fitzgerald has thrown for 1,459 yards and 13 touchdowns. He has also rushed for 801 yards and 12 touchdowns proving a true double-threat.

“Nick Fitzgerald has done a really, really good job at quarterback,” head coach Nick Saban said earlier this week. “Kind of a really good passer, but a great runner. Big, physical, strong guy. They use him both ways. They’ve been very consistent in their run-pass and mix of what they do and how they do it.”
